Database Search Instructions
- To search for a PIN you have located on a
recovered asset.
Click on Search PIN
Database

- Enter your password.
If you have not been provided with a password
please contact your supervisor or contact DataDot Technology on
info@datadot.co.nz.
Once your password has been entered you will
be taken to the database search function.

- Enter the PIN number which you have located
on an asset in the top right hand field titled PIN. It is not
necessary to choose the Asset Type or Asset ID.
- Click the Go button.
The following information will be returned:

Details regarding the information provided:
- Asset ID – if the PIN has been
applied to a motorcycle or boat the information provided
here should be a VIN for a motorcycle or a HIN (hull
identification number) for a boat/jet ski etc. This field
may not always return information but you can still cross
check the rightful owner’s details through the Owner ID
field.
- Owner ID – this gives details of
the owner’s unique identification. There are three types of
identification that can be provided (DL) = Drivers Licence,
(IRD) = IRD Number, (PASS) = Passport
- Asset Type – details the asset
type the dots have been applied to. Again this field may not
always return information as the DataDotDNA may have been
applied to several assets.
Once you have the rightful owner’s
identification details, these can all be traced by NZ Police
through the relevant databases.
